Well it was bound to happen sometime.
I got myself addicted to an online RPG and have been spending almost all time there ‘grinding up the toon’
I would like to say in my own defense, if you could call it that, I did not end up playing a mainstream game, with lots a really great graphics, you see, my system can’t handle that, nor did I end up playing some message board make believe game.
No, see I am playing a text based MUD online. Which I at this time I can’t tell if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Anyway.
I have discovered a few things, and that there is no one that plays an online game that is not a raging nerd or some sort.
From people that feel a need to be all “I am a full role player” to people that memorize stats like they mean something, to just the simple run on the mill power players.
At the end of the day, there are countless nerds that play these games and none of them seem to agree at what makes a nerd, beyond “Not themselves”
If you have an issue with one thing and they don’t, then you’re the nerd and they are not.
but there are a few brave nerds that know they are nerds, they accept they are nerds and are better people for it.
Know thyself (Plato)
To thine own self be true (Shakespeare)
So the next time you hear someone call you a nerd, or making a fun of you, remember they are just as spazzy a nerd as you, about something different, and unlike you, they are delusional that they are not nerds.
be brave! be Tenacious! be proud of what you are!
Nerd Fearlessly!
Take pride in all you do! Loosing some races does not mean the game is over! Keep running no matter what!
